There is a Pre-CoP event taking place in Fiji this October, and I would really like to support the participation of one of the young mentees we are currently accompanying through Gardiens Des Îles. We are increasingly trying to create opportunities for the young people we mentor to represent New Caledonia and the association directly in regional discussions, rather than me always being the one travelling and speaking on behalf of our work.

One of our mentees is particularly involved in our work around Nature-based Solutions, coastal restoration and community engagement, and this would be a great opportunity for her to connect with Pacific partners, gain experience in regional policy discussions, and bring those connections back to New Caledonia.

At this stage, however, we don't have a dedicated budget to cover her travel and participation. I was therefore wondering whether Saffron Aid might have any funding mechanism that could potentially support this kind of opportunity, even partially, or whether you might know of partners or small grants that we could approach.

We would mainly be looking for support with flights between New Caledonia and Fiji and, depending on what is covered by the organisers, potentially accommodation and local costs.
