Farmsum, April 1, 2026– Her Majesty Queen Máxima officially opened UPPACT’s recycling plant in Farmsum on Wednesday afternoon. At the facility, mixed plastic and textile waste streams are mechanically processed into new construction materials such as posts, boards and beams. The plant serves as a demonstration and validation site for a circular manufacturing concept.
Following the opening, Queen Máxima toured the facility and spoke with employees and project partners about the development of the production site, the technologies used, and collaboration across the circular supply chain. She also held discussions with representatives from government and industry on regional cooperation, funding for circular innovations, and supply‑chain development.
The UPPACT DEMO plant is a Dutch circular scale‑up focused on processing hard‑to‑recycle mixed plastic and textile waste streams. Using Australian mixer–melter technology, these waste streams are mechanically transformed into durable, recyclable construction materials, suitable for use in public spaces and infrastructure.
